The “Kaffeesachsen” project for Simply Saxony was a creative standout. Starting with the brief “Do whatever you want, but make it quick,” we embarked on the challenge from scriptwriting to character creation, dialogue, and a dive into Saxony’s rich history. Ever heard of a “Kaffeesachse”? It’s a playful nod to Saxony residents’ love for coffee, dating back to the 17th century and their classic “ä Schälchen Heeßen.”
One fun twist: the entire video was narrated by the same voice. We worked closely with three interns, deconstructing historical film scenes frame by frame, printing, cutting, and reanimating them with pixel animation—a departure from our usual vector style. Seeing everyone’s contributions come together was truly rewarding.
